Automotive Service Advisor

About the role

TalentEx Employment Group, an automotive recruitment business, is looking for a full-time Automotive Service Advisor to join a team in Castle Hill, Sydney. This is an on-site role for someone who enjoys dealing with customers and keeping a busy service department running smoothly.

About the role

As the first point of contact for customers bringing their vehicles in for service and repairs, you will explain the work needed in plain terms and keep customers informed from drop-off to pick-up. You will work closely with the workshop team to keep jobs moving.

• Greet customers, take booking details and write up repair orders accurately
• Listen to customer concerns and explain recommended service and repair work clearly
• Prepare quotes and seek customer approval before work begins
• Liaise with technicians and workshop controllers on job progress and timing
• Update customers on delays, additional work or changes to costs
• Process invoices, take payments and explain completed work at vehicle hand-over
• Follow up with customers after service to maintain good relationships

What we're looking for:

• Previous experience working as a Service Advisor in an automotive service environment
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repairs and automotive terminology
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers
• Outstanding customer service abilities with a commitment to achieving high levels of customer satisfaction
• Proficiency with computer systems and automotive service management software
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple customer requests simultaneously in a busy environment
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in processing paperwork and financial transactions
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
• A professional appearance and positive attitude
• Valid driver's licence and reliable transport
• Preferably, relevant automotive qualifications or certifications such as Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or customer service qualifications
• Working experience with EraPower, Triage, Podium and Dealer studio an advantage.

What you'll need

• Previous experience in a service advisor, service reception or similar customer-facing automotive role
• Good understanding of vehicle servicing and repairs
• Clear, friendly communication and customer service skills
• Confidence using workshop or dealership management software and basic quoting and invoicing
• Current Australian driver's licence
• Ability to stay organised and calm in a busy workshop environment
